GOJHL Petition for Junior A Status

“The Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) has been recognized for years as having “Junior A” caliber teams and players. However, its status within the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) and Hockey Canada remains “Junior B”, which poses a number of challenges for the 70,000 registered hockey participants including decreased visibility amongst professional hockey scouts and fewer post-secondary scholarship opportunities.

The GOJHL is requesting that the OHA grant “Junior A” status to the league in order to level the playing field for players across Southwestern Ontario and enhance the overall quality and competitiveness of the sport.” (From GOJHL Petition Page)

We stand with our league in this push to get Junior A hockey in Cambridge. Anyone who has been to any of the games in the GOJHL can tell you that each period brings high intensity and entertainment. This being said, it is looked as a smaller league simply due to the Junior B status, which it clearly has outplayed over the years. This change would bring countless more opportunities for our players to have success in their hockey careers, as easy as going from a few scouts in the building to having rows of scouts looking for the next standout player because Junior A leagues are more appealing to be at in their eyes.

Please consider signing this petition, as it could be the best change in any of our players futures!
